Lead Teacher for Early Childhood 3s
Summer Camp Class


Central Queens Y is seeking an experienced Early Childhood professional to serve as a part-time Lead Teacher in a ‘threes’ summer camp classroom.  This individual will work as part of a teaching team, including one Assistant Teacher and a camp counselor in a classroom serving up to 18 children.  We are an inclusive program and receive additional support from SEITS, PT, OT, speech therapists, etc. as needed.

Qualifications:  NYS Teacher Certification (provisional/initial or permanent); minimum B.A. or B.S. in Education, M.A./M.Ed preferred; must have experience as a Lead/Group Teacher of younger children (ages 2-4); possess a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the developmental stages of young children; and the ability to plan and implement lessons and activities reflecting that knowledge and understanding.

Responsibilities:  Implement curriculum to provide positive learning experiences for children; develop clear work expectations with classroom staff; plan and conduct daily classroom activities, maintain observation logs and other documentation; attend and participate in staff meetings and Staff Development training/workshops; work with Education Director to ensure equipment and supplies are in good condition.

Hours:   M-F 8:30am–1:15pm
Salary:  Union Scale
