Terms of Enrollment


Registration & Membership

Explorer Day Camp enrollment requires that all participating families become members of the CQY or pay a $150 non-member registration fee per family. The registration fee will be waived for any family who holds a current membership. Enrollment into the following Nursery School year entitles the family to an annual membership and waives the registration fee (applies to tuition based Nursery School only). Complete a membership application if a first time member. If membership expires before the camp season begins, renewal or payment of a registration fee is required at time of enrollment. During or immediately following the summer, the registration fee may be applied towards a one year membership. Call ext.132 for membership information.


Before November 20, 2016, a minimum deposit of $250 per child must accompany registration in addition to the appropriate Membership fee, if desired. Between February 1 and May 13, 2017, a minimum deposit of $500 per child is required. Make checks payable to Central Queens YM & YWHA. All major credit cards are accepted.

Payments and Refunds

Full payment of all fees is required by May 13, 2017. No child will be permitted to begin camp if there is an outstanding balance or their payment plan is in arrears. DEPOSITS ARE REFUNDABLE THROUGH MARCH 18, 2017. Between March 19, 2017 and May 13, 2017, a refund will be made minus $100 per child. Between May 13, 2017 and June 30, 2017, $250 will be charged for each child. After camp begins, there will be NO REFUND under any circumstances, even in the case of illness or if the child leaves camp on his or her own accord, is removed from camp due to an inability to adjust, is unable to function adequately or comply with the rules and regulations of the camp. There is no reduction or refund based on missed days due to absence or early withdrawal. Campers extending will be charged the differential. An extension will be made only if there is room in the child's group and/or bus. NO CHILD WILL BE PERMITTED TO BEGIN CAMP IF THERE IS AN OUTSTANDING BALANCE OR THEIR PAYMENT PLAN IS IN ARREARS.


All campers are covered by the camp's Accident Insurance Policy for injuries related to camp activities. This does not cover illness. Please note that there is a $100 deductible for medical reimbursement. The dental insurance coverage is limited to $150. The current cost of liability insurance has made it necessary for us to pass along an insurance fee of $15 to each camper.

Financial Assistance

Limited financial assistance, based on individual need, is available. Applications are available at the front desk. Please contact ext.132 with questions. A personal interview may be required.

Camper Referral Bonus

Camp is better with friends! When you recommend a child to the CQY who signs up for camp for the first time for 6 weeks or more you will receive a $100 finder's fee per child, which will be mailed to you in September.  (For campers registering for 5 weeks or less, you will receive $50). The following conditions must apply:  the child must be new to the CQY, have completed his/her entire session, paid tuition in full, and not be receiving financial assistance.

Transportation is provided in school buses and is included in the camp fee (see Transportation Form for closest stop).
Pick-up/drop-off times vary depending on location.

Medical Information

Medical forms will be mailed out prior to the start of camp. All forms must be dated between September 2016 and June 2017 in order to be valid. A completed medical form and notarized emergency authorization form must be returned to the camp office no later than June 15, 2016. No camper is permitted to begin camp unless we have these forms on file.


A personal interview may be required for new campers. The purpose of this interview is to determine how we can best meet the individual/group needs of your child. Acceptance of campers is contingent upon Camp Director's approval.


Programs include lunch and a daily snack.


Registration implies permission for your child to take part in all activities, including trips away from the campgrounds. There is no alternative child care for children who choose not to attend a scheduled trip.  Space is limited in all camps traveling on extended trips.
