Assistant After-School Site Coordinator

Central Queens Y is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community center serving over 10,000 persons of diverse backgrounds in Queens County. The CQY provides a continuum of social, recreational, and educational services for children, families and adults. For over two generations, the Central Queens Y, located in Forest Hills Queens, has been a special place for thousands of families, older adults, children and individuals who participate in its parenting, preschool, after school, cultural arts, camping, health and fitness, social services, and senior programming.


This is a part-time position Monday–Friday afternoons.

The Assistant Site Coordinator of our after school-program supports our Site Coordinator in providing diverse high quality after-school programming for youth from Kindergarten to 6th Grade. The right candidate will have a passion for working with youth; have strong communication and time management skills; and be able to handle multiple tasks. Reporting to the Site Coordinator, the Assistant Site Coordinator will carry out the responsibilities of the position as defined below.


  1. Advise the Coordinator on program development and implementation.
  2. Provide coaching for program staff.
  3. Ensure proper implementation of program by team.
  4. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with staff, youth, parents, and school.
  5. Perform and oversee participant training and supervision.
  6. Ensure implementation of program activities and scheduling.
  7. Supporting the Coordinator in completion of evaluation reports on a timely basis.
  8. Maintain professional files on all staff for Department of Health review.
  9. Order, manage and keep track of all program supplies and food/snack deliveries.
  10. Keep organized computer records of all finances, registrations and program related information.
  11. Attend staff meetings and professional development trainings.
  12. Demonstrate superior leadership and management skills and the ability to motivate and support members of a team.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred but not required) in Education, Social Work, or other relevant subject.
  • Prior success managing and developing staff talent.
  • Experience working with youth in an educational setting.
  • Prior management experience.
  • Willingness to submit to and and ability to pass criminal, child protection, and sexual registry background check.

Part–Time, Afternoons
